Hello,

I am looking to add some biodiversity to my new DSB, but of all the research I've done, the only thing that I'm coming up with is the dertrivore pack from the now-extinct Inland Aquatics and ipsf- However, I'd like to have as much biodiversity as possible, and ipsf only seems to carry a few (common) creatures. I believe I may be looking for some type of live sand, if anybody has a good recommendation for that, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm not too sure how to deal with any possible pests though... any input into how I can help seed my DSB would be greatly appreciated :)

Garfs grunge or better yet some real live sand out of the ocean. I believe kp aquatics or maybe the other live rock sellers out of florida will send you some.

Would I just reach out and ask for them to ship some sand? And if so, how would I deal with the risks of predatory worms and such? Is there a curing process?

Well, no clue what you are looking for but I can tell you that their stuff is ridiculously good. Alive, reproduces. Copepods, amphipods, mini stars, several species of snails, plankton and worms.

I've used them every time I've started a DSB. Their mud and live sand are crawling with life.

I have an established sandbed already, so I have pretty much all of the stuff you listed. I'm looking for just a variety of creatures that will help stabilize the food web, if at all possible.

Floridapets sells live sand and mud
It seems like they're sold out- thank you though! I'm having terrible luck; Tampa Bay Saltwater isn't accepting orders because of COVID, and that was my go-to!

I can't reach out to leroy at garf's grunge for some reason- just when I was sold on buying some...

The message I got was that their mailbox is full, not that the domain was shut down or anything. Hopefully, it was just put on the back burner for now. Their stuff looks really cool.

Leroy passed away several years ago. Sally Jo was running things as far as I know. Look her up on facebook under Garf.org to contact.

Live sand and Live mud is ALWAYS available upon email request. May be two to three days handling time but, we ALWAYS have Sand and Mud.

that's the ipsf I was referring to- it seems like it would be good for replenishing reefs, though they probably can't supply what I'm looking for
This is not true at all! Plenty to start and to recharge systems of several hundred gallons.

Gerald is the best.
