Recap of the past week. Bought a small bucket of Red Sea blue bucket salt, bucket came in damaged and bag was ripped open. So I put salt into another bucket, threw it on a shelf and forgot about it. Salt turned hard as concrete! Haha curious if I can still use it or not?!?! EDIT : I forgot to put a lid on bucket! Haha

Yesterday the AC broke, house got up to 80-82 tank was at 80. After paying dearly for an after hours call the tech got it running again! It’s been 100+ here with ozone alerts.

Moved the battle box into the rock work, all seem to be doing okay. Left them on plugs to move if needed.

@BoomCorals had a pick 2 coral pack available. Pick 2 of the listed pieces and he’ll throw in 3 more. So I jumped on that. Be a week or two before those get shipped.

I have a third a160we on the way. Between the t5 hybrid and 3 kessil 160’s I hope to achieve the par needed!

Tank was at 7.5 all nearly all week, last 2 days it’s at 7.7 - do a small jump but holding steady. Calcium was 420 yesterday and mag was 1480. Phosphates and nitrates both ZERO!

Looking for some opinions - I run two of the Gyre 230's on LTC mode with the max set to 50%. 50% is as low as I can go with the current firmware, I need to update the firmware. I really like the setting and it seems to be working out, the pumps don't run at max speed continuous and provides the tank with a wide range of flow. With my tank being only 3' and the way my rock work is at some point I am going to have to put corals in the line of fire... Meaning they will be getting flow directly from the pumps.

What is everyone's thoughts on this?

I didn’t even know the controller had upgradable firmware. I would go ahead and get that done so you can ramp down a bit. 50% to my eye seems like a ton of flow in the 3’ tank and whips the snot out of my euphylia and anemone. I tried the LTC mode for a few days at some point and it didn’t work that well for me and the way my corals are placed. Euphylia in spots that just got hammered. It’s been a while now but I think I killed a gorgeous torch before realizing what was happening.

Now I run an anti-sync wave at 20 or 30% usually just 20%. If I ever need to go to 40% then its beyond time to clean the pumps. So 20% power, .6 millisecond intervals at regular ramp. I feel like this gives me enough juice and I really don't mess with it that often though maybe I should...

Here’s a pic if it helps.

I can set the gyre controller lower if I use manual settings, from what I read the firmware needs to be updated on the LTC mode. I wish my controller lights worked like yours, mine is dim and difficult to see! Now that the pump and controller is out of warranty I haven't messed with dealing with coralvue. But maybe I should look into that!

There is a microSD slot on the controller

Yeah, that definitely sux. Check with Reefing with O. I think he had just a controller up for sale at one point here on the forum though i could be mistaken.

Some test results. There are some variations with the out of date reagents, unless it’s user error. But that’s a pretty large gap. No more coral pro salt, blue bucket now!

Couple coral pictures. Alk has been fairly stable, in an effort to figure out what I can’t keep sps for a month or more I removed the toadstool leather. After doing some reading it seems that some leathers could pollute the water.
