Devoted Reefer 250

I have a small sicce powerhead in my sump, it’s not very powerful. Chaeto probably doesn’t even feel that flow. I used the mj1200 to suck out the crud from the sump, I use a sicce 1.5 for mixing salt! I like the fuge so far, a week ago when I tested nitrates were about 2 and phosphates were pretty low I think they were .03-.04 so just watching that. Adding fish should help out. I had a fuge on my first tank I setup and it did well, hoping for the same results!
Nice. I actually like those nitrate and phosphate levels. Mine are at that level. But, honestly, I’d like to see how my tank would do with a little higher nutrient level. I may tinker with it. Hopefully that small ball will turn into a big one. Then you know it’s working.

I’d like for them to be a little higher, but that’s better than the alternative! Haha I am doing 8-10 gallon water changes a week. If I changed that to bi-weekly is probably see those numbers come up. I did also slow down on feeding, especially frozen foods.

Corals on the way! Cleaned skimmer cup and had to capture the pristine foam!

I wanted a variety of corals to try out, and I really like all of them in the "Reef Filler" pack anyway so that is the pack I bought. This will give me a chance to try out a few corals and see what happens. I really wanted the green slimer so I ordered a complete pack to make the shipping worth it... Or that is what I tell myself all the time! haha

ORA Sour Apple Birdsnest
ORA Purple Stylophora
World Wide Coral Slimeball Anacapora
ORA Green Slimer
Blue Tip Stag
ORA Pink Birdnest
PC Rainbow
ORA Bird of Paradise

Very nice choices. I have a few of them. PC rainbow is a beautiful coral when the colors are right. With your lights, Those birds nests will get pretty large.

I've got my fingers crossed that this go around with the SPS corals is much better than before!

The Anacropora is good grower that didn’t require perfect water in my case. Bonus that I liked it a lot.

Mine grows like crazy. I’ve knocked it down broke it in half and it still grows.

Now the true test. Can it withstand what I am about to put it through! haha I am feeling super positive that this will turn out great!

Not sure on placement, but this is where the corals ended up today. I wanted to keep the birdnest corals together to keep them from growing into (overtaking) anything else.

Nice pieces. They are a nice size. Now let’s see them grow.

Hey Pelphrey, Cant wait to see these Sps take off for you. I'm looking to get a new tank soon and I like the RSR 250. If you had to go back and either buy again or get a different tank what would you choose? I was also looking at the Im Nuvo 75g INT or EXT as well.

That is the plan! Lets get to it! haha

I really like the RSR 250, the overflow box is annoying at this point. I wish I had a tank with a drilled back and overflow box that didn't take up so much room. Otherwise I wouldn't change a thing. Personally I would like to have a bigger tank, but it starts to get really expensive and I am already over the deep end! haha The second big factor to me is that this tank is only 3' and had I gone with a 4' tank the cabinet space obviously wouldn't be so limited. But for not the 3' tank fits perfect in my home.

Awesome thanks for the quick response. My space is also limited to a 3' tank which is the main reason i'm leaning towards the RSR 250. The overflow box I can see being a hassle, to bad Red Sea doesn't have a External overflow or back drilled overflow set up. I guess they want it to be able to sit flush on the wall though.

I'm feeling confident these Sps are finally going to take off for you, good luck.

The Reefer is a great setup but those IM EXT tanks are pretty dang nice as well. They are releasing some new ones soon too I think with some interesting dimensions for larger sizes. Possibly something like 36”x36” though I dont remember exactly.

Yeah the Ext 75g is teasing me as well. I'm about 2 months away from the purchase so I have plenty of time to change my mind about 100 times. A 36" x 36" x 20ish would be pretty crazy.

Part of my problem keeping corals preciously was the fact I messed with the tank tooo much. This time taking a step back, glass is dirty, socks need to be swapped and bubble scrubbing 5 minutes twice a day and 10 minutes twice a day.
