what else can i be missing?? do they need pratzi two treatments first to feel better from worms? i feel like his gills look a bit bigger. i do have a bubbler but not a powerhead. could it be a reaction from the cupramine? or is that usually more immediate...?

Dont give up on him,my current male trigger has been in qt for ages with various ailments/treatments. When we first got him,we treated with the trifecta and he didnt eat for 4 weeks! He is still alive over 2 months later and eating well although strugging to regain weight. It was actually flake that tempted him to eat in the end after trying all sorts of foods believe it or not. Ours is very shy also.Good luck,i hope he pulls through
wow!! not eating for 4 weeks!! how big was he? mine is about 6 inches and honestly doesn't look skinny to me, but what do i know... he is trying to put his trigger up and hide in the corner but his tail then gets higher then the rest of his body. i think he is doing it on purpose...i'm trying to think of something to put in there so he can hide. i might just sacrifice more live rock. or is it a symptom? he did seem wobbly when i moved the heater to see if he could swim. ahhh.
@Humblefish any ideas what could be going on with my kiri triggerfish? is black ich obvious on fish? could that have been what was between his scales in the other thread? it grew a little bit. he is paler, breathing heavier, his gills seem to be larger then they were, his tail happy otherwise and not eating. he was in cupramine. i took him out after 14 days. he hasn't eaten for 7 days now. i gave him pratzi 6 days ago when i noticed he wouldn't eat i transferred him out into new qt tank.
the more i think about it, the more i think this might be like my sailfin tang that got really pale in cupramine. he might be feeling badly from all the medications. he did stop eating in cupramine but maybe it was the cupramine that made him that way? or is that unlikely that after 13 days of cupramine that he would stop eating from being irritated by it?

Secondary infections are pretty common after flukes. I’d consider moving him to a fresh quarantine and switching to Kanaplex.

My triggers are about 4-5 inches and youll be able to tell when hes skinny,its really obvious to see. The males seem to be really shy and definitely benefit from having a couple of decent sized pvc pipe fittings in which to hide. That is probably why he is hiding behind the heater if he has nowhere else to go. Also that tail up thing,mine does that also. We have just seperated the male and female to try and get some weight on him as he is still thin and struggles to compete with the female. Both of ours have been through 14 days of Kanaplex,Metroplex and Furan 2, two rounds of Prazipro and 15 days of copper then transfered to another tank. While they were in there,we fed them food with Fenbendazole in for internal parasites before seperating them just a couple of days ago. When were were dosing the antibiotics,we had to do a 25% water change evry other day,@ngoodermuth really helped with some good advise. Good luck
so my issue is that day 7 (supposed to treat again with pratzi) has arrived and i'm in the middle of the antibiotics. i'm starting to realize this is a secondary infection and not just worms causing issues because the eggs would be all that is left from the first treatment...so, while he maybe had worms, this isn't why he is not eating. i think also the marks on the outside of his scales might be the bacterial infection and small sores potentially. when i sneak in on him to see how he is doing, his trigger is down, he isn't trying to hide, and his tale looks happy-- correct me if i'm wrong but if his tail is unhappy it is in the shape of a U and that would mean he is more sick, correct? he goes right into hiding mode, putting his trigger up when he sees me whereas he used to beg for food. i leave the food so he has a chance to eat incase he is just scared of me, but he doesn't eat it. ugh.
anyone know how long antibiotics take to work their magic? i need him to eat again!
also, any chance this trifecta of furan 2, kanaplex and metroplex is not what he needs and its another antibiotic?
i'm guessing that once i get him more stable and eating i can finish the antibiotic and restart deworming since i missed second treatment.

I am by no means an expert on any of this,@ngoodermuth advised me what to do so hopefully she'll she this and comment. Once you start the trifecta, i think you should definitely do the full treatment. I was dosing all 3 on alternate days and furan 2 on the other days inbetween with a 25% water change. I am not sure if this is the same as you are doing but if you search on here for the trifecta schedule you will find it. When mines happy his tail is fully open and he clamps it when hes unhappy. I would finish the full course of antibiotics and try to get him eating. Prazipro could be done later in my opinion although you would need to start again,ie 2 doses 5-7 days apart but like i said,im definitely no expert so hopefully someone will verify this,hope it works out for you
Antibiotics are slow acting in fish, once you start you want to do a full 10-14 days.
If you need to do prazi again (second dose), you can. Just be sure the tank is heavily aerated, and time it so the dose is 24 hours before a scheduled water change.

ugh!!! i found out after finally getting my laser temp gun up and running again (got new batteries finally--9 volt) that the tank was at about 68 degrees!! now, this kiri lives in deeper parts of the ocean and was used to colder temps in his older habitat, but my guess is that 68 is way too low! and probably a drastic change from what i had him at, which is 76 since 75 is the recommended high and everything else will have to be 76. no wonder!! ughhhhhh!!! i just bought that heater and it wasn't one of the one temp cheaper types. how much damage could this have caused??!
so it is safe to run pratzi at the same time as all three of those?? how safe???!!! he was turning upside down today...but everytime i peak in he is fine, its just when he is trying to use his trigger. but i think he was trying to maybe eat, the food would suck in then blow out!! so frusterating. his mouth pretty much stays open but i dont think he has that locked jaw thing...i dont think...?

anyone know if the kiris are more sensitive than the rest of the triggers in his family? i imagine with their smaller size, that might be the case.
