DI Resin quickly spent

Yes, very important; though no matter how hard I try I can never get 100% of the single fill pouches into the inner cannister.

If your purchasing from BRS, I believe it was Ryan that stated you will never get the entire package into the canister. They package more than what will fit to guarantee you will 100% fill your canisters.:)
 
It’s probably listed on BRS as bulk deionization resin, but if you look in the product details it is a nuclear grade mixed bed resin. The triple can certainly replace what you have currently, though there’s nothing wrong with still running them after the triple. I run mine ..... prefilters ..... booster pump ...... RO membrane ..... DI triple ..... single bulk deionization ....

Saw this thread last night. My last water sample from ATI reported that my device needs service, resin should be renewed. Sort of gave me pause because I thought the color was supposed to change. I went outside to look at the 6 stage system I have from BRS and the resin look the same. Is there a way to see if they are actually good, bad, or need to swap? I'm guessing it is the silicon numbers that trigger the replacement note?

What resin are you using that you note above?

What type of system are you running? Single stage DI? What is your TDS output? If it's still 0 I wouldn't be too concerned, Silica is one of the harder elements to remove with resin and probably what prompted the replacement note.
 
Thank you. I just looked up the most resent DI I bought. I got it from BRS but it didn't say mixed bed or anything like that. So I'm not sure what it is.
So I have the two little canisters on my RODI system full of DI resin. If I use the Triple DI saver do I eliminate those completely and just use the Triple DI saver?

BRS sells a single canister to be used to upgade the dual di to triple.

somebody correct me if im wrong here: the goal is suppose to be cation, anion, then mixed. one of the idea behind the mixed being the last as a catch all for the first two so you can for the most part run them to "almost or is" depleted. most people will typically use more of one then the other. Refill each when they respectively deplete. how you want to wire the single in as last or in front of the dual is up to you . I myself would put the single last with mixed. and then the cation and anion, on the dual.

Thanks. It is the BRS 6 stage. TDS output is showing 0. It is about 1 year old and the tank is a 210 gallon, an upgrade. So I know I've made at least 200 gallons through it. Maybe a bit more due to top off, etc. The meter it comes with has 3 readings or checks I guess (sorry, not a expert on ro systems) and the first has a low reading, then the middle is 0 as well as the last reading is 0.

I wasn't sure so had to check real quick. First test was 6,0,0 and the 2nd and subsequent test was 2,0,0. It has three reading points. I'm making some water now and the reading was from left, middle, right switch position 2, 0, 0.
 
Ok so I am kinda nutz.

So I have three dual stage DI resin canisters after my RO unit.
First two 10" Cation canisters.
Second two 10" Anion canisters.
Third pair 10" Mixed bed.

My units are for the most part unattended so I don't want any TDS to get through.

I do it the BRS DI swap way.
When position one of the pair is depleted its removed,
The canister in position two moves over to position one.
The fresh DI canister goes into position two.

Do you know where Exactly those meters are placed? 2 seems VERY low for incoming TDS...

Yes. Line 1 is the input line to the 1st DI resin holder, line 2 is the input to the input of the 2nd stage of di resin, and line 3 is the final output. Hope BRS doesn't mind but this is sort of a not very good number / meter area picture.

Okay so they aren't in the typical placement of most systems. Which explains the numbers. If you want to tackle your high silica you could swap one of your mixed bed DI Resin canisters for a single bed, I forget which one it is (I think Anion) deals with silica much better on its own.
 
Just to make sure have you double checked your water pressure into the RO system?

Are you opening the valve all the way. Low water Pressure can cause bad rejection rate.

Thanks. I wasn't the most clear either :) Sorry about that. I'll take a look. I also just swapped them around and making a 40 gallon batch of water. Will be interesting if the numbers go up or down after the 2nd batch when I send off a ATI test. I'm curious how my pukani rock is maturing with regards to the 1 year mark of having it in my tank and the phosphate (compared to my tests).

I run the liquagen 4 stage and my DI resin depletes VERY quickly. Maybe every 60-80 gallons of clean water.

Do you happen to have a TDS meter? How old is the unit? Are you on Well or City water?
