I recently purchased an ro/di unit and I've used it for 2 days and my di resin is pretty much all gone what could be the cause? The water pressure is at about 58 psi and the tds coming into the unit is about 38. Can anyone help me out.
 
Are you city water or well?
 
Could it have anything to do with the fact that there was a lot of air trapped in the canister?
 
I'd give BRS a call and have them run through the troubleshooting. I was having the same issue and it ended up being that my RO membrane was faulty. What's the TDS coming out of the RO membrane?
 
Also, what's the TDS coming out of the membrane? The color change shouldn't be your only test of it working.

EDIT: When you say "all gone," are you referring to the color change or is it physically not there?
 
I'm no expert but learning from @AZDesertRat which he will put his knowledge in. But I have the same unit and its 7 TDS coming in and mine changes fast also. Yours being a lot higher is probably why it's changing so fast.
 
First I'd start with trying to get the pressure up, ideally to about 70psi. I have a large RO unit and terrible water so I end up with about 50tds out of the membrane going into dual 10" DI canisters. I replace the resin roughly every 2 weeks. So yours shouldn't be gone by now. Another thing to consider is that excess CO2 in supply water will exhaust resin on its own, so if it's burning through that fast with a low TDS that may be one culprit.
 
From what the manual says the pressure should be at 60 which is close to what I have. The tds coming out of the membrane is 30. Yes I'm talking about the color changing I turn it back on last night now this morning I checked and the di resin is completely orange and the tds coming out of the di resin is 4 ppm. Would I still be able to use this water since it's the only water I have? My tank is in the process of a cycle and all I need it for is A TO till the new di resin gets here. I'm currently calling brs to if they could figure out the problem.
 
With 30 TDS coming out of the membrane, you will eat up the DI pretty fast. What is the raw water TDS? You should be getting about 98 percent rejection with a good membrane.
 
CO2 is my issue but I'm on a well. If you are on city water that would be surprising to me.
 
What is your tap water TDS, RO only TDS before the DI and final RO/DI TDS? What is your water temperature? What is your exact measured waste ratio using a measuring cup and clock or watch for exactly one minute first from the waste line then from the RO? Do you know your waters calcium carbonate hardness? How much water do you think you have made and did you make it in a large batch(es) or small filter runs? Do you know the pH and alkalinity of your tap water?
How did you determine your DI is exhausting? Handheld or inline TDS meter? How are you testing the TDS if it is a handheld meter which I hope it is since they are much more accurate and robust?
Where are you located and have you spoken to your water provider or obtained a copy of your water utilities annual water quality report which is required to be available per the EPA?

I could always do a test of those two on the tap water and see what it comes up to be.
