DI stage...which way does water flow?

I have a question in regards to the direction water should pass through a DI cartridge.
I have an aquatic life RODI 4 stage.
In the setups I have seen, some have the water flowing downward through the Resin cartridge then to the holding tank, other pass the water up through the resin and then down to the holding tank.

For years, my setup was that the water (after RO) trickles down through the cartridge. But recently, I noticed some do the opposite and push it up the cartridge.....so now I am just confused...

Which direction should water pass the cartridge, is there a right way, or does it even matter?

Either way the water of going through the resin so I don’t think it matters. Mine goes
up.
