Hello,
I bought a ctenochaetus truncatus earlier this week from lfs. I already saw a mark on the right side cheek when i was acclimating the fish, but was not sure if it was a reflection or an actual mark on fish. However, it became very obvious when i released it into the tank. I tried to take a photo, although the quality is very bad does anyone know what it is? I know i that i should have checked the fish more properly, but never thought that a fish could be sold like that.
Thanks for any help,

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Getting good quality pictures of fish is difficult, but without them, it is very hard to say what the issue might be. The blue lights make it harder to see.

It looks like a large bruise. Is it red in color? If it is superficial, it may just heal on its own.

Hello Jay,
Thanks for your quick answer! Yes, i'm sorry, I'm well aware that the quality is very poor. However, i would say that the color is more silver like. Hopefully it will heal on its own, and that fish is healthy otherwise. Thanks again,

Maybe this is a better picture.

This pic is better. That does look pretty superficial. If it isn't growing larger, I would just watch it. The alternative is set up a treatment tank and dose with a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic.

Again thanks a lot for your advice. I will then first watch it and see how it develops. Have a great weekend,
