Hello;
My Vlamingii, two blue, & yellow tangs, & green chromis are all over three years old.
I hadn't introduced any new fish in this time until January, when I purchased a little flame angel.
I didn't quarantine the angel, I like to live on the edge :cool:

The angel fitted in great, & is doing fantastically. But two weeks ago my vlamangii's right eye got a whitish covering over the top half. It cleared up after a week.
The other day I noticed my larger blue tang's right eye was completely covered by a white film also; and it was hiding away, only comming out to eat & to headbutt the smaller blue tang.:mad:

I took melypr1985' advice from a post I read, & dosed epsom salts last night.
The blue tangs eye has cleared up noticably from yesterday (thanks melypr1985 :)) although I imagine it would have cleared up anyway, like vlamingii's did.

What was likely the problem with my Tangs eyes?

If it's just one eye each time it shows up, then it's likely an injury to the eye. The tangs could be scuffling with each other a bit or with the angel. The white-ish film you see is a mild infection that seems to clear up on it's own. The other cause is flukes, though if it were flukes, I would expect both the eyes to get infected and you would (if you looked closely) be able to see the flukes in their eyes.

Too if it was flukes, they sometimes flash against rocks and sand beds, just like if they had ick. I agree it's most likely scuffles or chasing into rocks.
