Dialing in my sump

Hey everyone. So I’d like to dial my sump on a little more. Looking for suggestions/ideas on how to make my existing sump better. As of now, it just drains into one side, crosses through the leftover live rock in the center, runs through some filter sponges (can’t stand them) then into the return where there is some carbon and bioballs. I have a slimmer but it hangs off the display. I do plan on changing for an internal option down the line. Below are some pics for an idea. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

You want to keep you sump as clean as the display. The center area is where you should add media like phosban and charcoal.
you can use filter floss supported with egg crate at where the water enters the sump.
