Diamond Gobies

I wanted to have my sand cleaner and was recommended diamond gobies. I bought 2 and added them last night to my 55gal. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences with diamond gobies?

I have a singular one in a 180 gallon and LOVE HIM!
I would recommend possibly returning one of them as I feel only one would be better suited for your tank and there's the possibility of the two of them fighting as they mature.

They're great fish all around with wonderful personality! Mine eats anything I throw in the tank for the other fish (frozen of all varieties and pellets) and keeps to the sand and his burrows. He rarely ventures into the water column, so make sure you keep as much of the sand open as possible! The one I have doesn't stir up much sand (cause sand storms) either. Very pleasant fish addition to most any tank I think!

Thanks for the input mine escaped last night had to fill in one tiny hole and lucky I woke up at 2 it was on lid. I guess until they settle they are escape artists

Glad you found him! Finding a fish out of the tank is always a scare!

Just saw him in back so looks like I'm in the clear happened to shine flashlight behind stand and found missing long nose hawk have put a tight sealed lid on since! Got a new
Long nose one of my favorite fish!

I've often thought of using mine for bait. In my 90g he has just about cleared all of the sand from the entire left side of the tank and moved it in to piles around his home. That wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't for the fact that he is constantly burying frags with it. The funny part is I have a large pipette that I use to blow the sand back and he often attacks it.

They can certainly bury things on the sand and are prolific jumpers, but they do keep the sand clean.

Watch the behavior of the 2, consexuals can be aggressive to each other, but young fish pr easily.

I think they get a bad rap because people get them and have huge sand storms. I had this happen a couple weeks ago when I added mine. My first thought was what have I done! But now that he has filtered out all the fine dust my water is clear as a bell again. Awesome beautiful white sand again. So white you can see the fishes shadow now. Wouldn't trade him for anything now

I just bought a diamond goby pair for my 150 after my last one passed away and my sand was getting really dirty. They're good sifters, but they can also make a huge mess of things. These two I bought yesterday are living in a burrow together and basically buried my zoa rock in the process of building their new home. lol

Ok now after a couple of days they have built their home and come right out in front center of tank! My sand is getting whiter by the hour! These guys are fun to watch as well though my yellow tang likes to scare them like he's just having fun.

It was the first addition to our 100 gal tank. My wife named him Wilco. It is his mission in life to move all the sand from one side of the tank to the other. Then back again...and again...

I just purchased one myself almost 2 weeks ago.. he sifted a ton of sand and created sand storms but since then he's made a home for himself under a rock and I haven't seen him in the passed 6 days so I'm not too sure where he is right npw

Funny I stopped buyimg them years ago. My sand now is a carpet of filter feeders. Little tube worms with single tentacles. I love watching the sand come alive when the lights go off. Sand sifters always disturbed the sand to much for this to happen. I wonder which is better for the tank.
