I recently got a diamond goby and ever since its been in there it has been clouding up the water by just kinda slinging sand around. Im worried about some of my other fish and corals. I assumed he would kinda calm down and stop but its been going on for almost 3 days now. Will he stop, or should I do somthing? Also, is it bad for the fish to be in cloudy water for 2 and a half days?

Are you positive its a diamond goby? Other species of goby (Bella, gold head etc.) don't release the sand close to the bottom of the tank but in the mid to higher regions of the tank. If it is a diamond goby it could be that your sand is stocked with detritus and other waste and this is the first time its been moved which will cause the issue your having.

It might just take some time for him to clean in out thoroughly. Increase your flow and change out/clean filter socks or floss to remove as much of the waste thats being thrown into the water column.

Got it!! Thank you!! Will it harm my other fish to be in cloudy water for that long?

I just added a diamond goby as well right around the same time frame as you and mine is doing the same thing, everything else is doing fine. He is just going to work cleaning the sand bed and if its like mine making little hiding spots in the sand in and around the rock work. I have been rinsing out my filter floss daily and it seems to have been helping.

I bought a diamond goby and he's doing the same to me. Does this ever settle down? It seems you guys are about 2 weeks ahead of me. I change my filter floss daily.

Did it get better?

Yeah it has settled down and the water is crystal clear. I added extra polyfil and was changing it out everyother day. For my tank it took about 2 weeks for the goby to settle in.

Yep my diamond goby is constantly rearranging my tank, even picking up rocks and spitting them in a different side of the 120gal. So yeah he does cloud up the tank here and there but eventually the bed is so clean that u barely notice it anymore.

LOL freakin diamond gobies. gotta love those lil suckers gobbling sand all day. its cute, but annoys the crap out of me whenever it bothers my corals on the sand bed.

only for the first couple days it made the water cloudy but after awhile it clears out even tho its at it 24/7
