This is the second diamond goby that I've gotten. My other one doesn't do this, and I have had this one for 2 weeks now, and haven't seen him do this.
I bought a lawnmower blennie, and this is where I noticed the diamond doing this. Basically, he takes a deep breath, rises off the surface a short distance and goes back down. It's not constant, and it's just now that I have seen it. I assume he is just posturing up for the newly added bottom sitter.

Anyone have one where they have seen this type of thing before? I've added a video to help shoe it. Don't hate me for not adjusting the blues

Mine does something similar when I clean the glass after having let the algae build up a bit. Definitely a strange fish.

its been a couple weeks now, and figured i would post the outcome if anyone ever has a similar question. i have come to a conclusion that it was just a way to see where the new inhabitant is. he does it every now and then, but it seems that it is just to help himself rise in the water. hes doing fine, and no issues right now
