Why did my diamond goby die. This is what it looked like after death. He was fine last night. I do have a anemone in the tank. I absolutely dont know what killed him. I have puffers. A eel. Damsels. Kole eye. Coral beauty. Maroon clown. Parameters ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrates 15. A lil help please.

Sorry for your loss. I’d second the trauma theory. I’ve had horrible luck w them. Bought one and it got a bit squished at lfs during capture. I brought it home and tried my best but it didn’t survive long. Few days. LFS replaced for free. Would you believe it jumped out of the transfer bucket on the way to Dt? I grabbed it off the floor with my bare hands in a panic and dropped it again! Next day,
It had a big red mark on it’s side much like the redness on your guy’s face. Assume it was trauma from all the falls :( needless to say, he didn’t make it either. I didn’t have the heart to get another one after that.

I kept trying after a couple ended up on the floor and found out that they usually don't jump much when they finally get used to their tank (and they have something softer to hit when they do jump)

Definitely didn’t get that far w my 2 (May they Rest In Peace). But makes sense.

I was so worried about why he died. Now I feel horrible because I just installed a screen on my tank this evening

Don’t feel bad. If the screen wasn’t there, what do you think would have been the outcome? Doubt it would have jumped out of the water back into the water. Would probably have ended up in the floor and dead anyway. Assume an in tank death would have been more peaceful

Wouldn’t a fish be more likely to survive a screen than glass?
