I got a Diamond goby last week and he was eating pellets and frozen food but when I got home from work last night he was nowhere to be found. This is 16 hours later and still no sign of the goby I have a custom fit lid so he couldn’t have jumped out. If anyone has any idea where he could be please let me know

These fishes sometimes hide out by burying themselves in the substrate. It probably got full of pellets and decided to go into hiding.
The other way that they disappear is from roommates who trade in fish they don’t like?

Ok thank you this is the second goby I have gotten and the other one did the same thing where it just disappeared hopefully he will come back out soon cause his colors are beautiful.

They are awesome fish but amazing jumpers and frequent carpet surfers. I know you have a lid but if there is any opening… Also, did you check overflow and sump?

I do not have a sump so he can’t be in there but I do have about an inch wide gap for my wave pump coord cut out of the lid so that it sits flush I didn’t see him on the ground though.

any chance you had a hang on back filter that got jammed and were forced to do a water change? if so, do you have a morish idol with a scar on it?

ok im joking. I swore i had lost my fire fish as it disappeared for 2 weeks. Next thing, i saw it swimming around like everything is normal. Now it disappeared again.

I also have a diamond goby. Every day at dawn, it wakes up and cleans out its cave and around 11pm, it buries itself in the cave. For two days he didnt come out. His cave was still covered in sand. I thought the lobster might gotten to him or got crushed by rocks. 3 days later, he shows up no problems.

I've had 2 watchman gobies commit fish-a-side in the past few months. The first I've yet to find. I thought I made my tank escape proof the second time....WRONG ! Sigh.....

I ended up finding my 2 goby’s on the floor they jumped out of a 1”-1” hole in my lid I had cut out for my power head cables
