well, i had two. two seperate tanks. i had one of these gobys for a year, and the other for just a month or so. a couple weeks ago, i put them together as a start of combining these tanks, and they got along almost straight away. they acted alot like clowfish. always next to each other.
the eggs all came about this morning. normally, when i come in to my office, all the fish are out, or are out within an hour. i found that the two diamonds werent out, but it wouldnt be uncommon for them to come out an hour late, but a couple hours into it, they still werent out, which was horribly odd. the one place they would go, was completely buried, which is not odd of course. i was able to flush them out, because i was worried that maybe they were trapped somewhere, or dead. the larger of the two stayed out, but then the other one disappeard for hours again, which i found to be odd. the rock that she was under, the one that was still out, buried the rock completely. which again, is not odd, but was a bit strange in this instance seeing as they generally dont bury the other if its in their hole. i flushed her out again, and found that where she was, i saw what looked to be a line of cotton, which is obviously eggs.
it was quite fast for this to happen. i have only had these fish in the same tank for maybe 2 weeks.
on a side note, i dont plan on trying to raise them. i suspect that they will all die. assuming that is the case, the concern i have is a spike in ammonia, so i guess the main question i have is, if a nest of eggs do die, is there a significant increase in ammonia that i have to be careful of?
