Hi guys

Id like to get some feedback from those that have had a diamond goby for a while (successfully) - do you feed it? Or do you just let it clean the sand and get its food that way?

Mine is an active cleaner, but whenever I feed, he hides in his cave - and thus doesnt get any food. Sometimes I feed it with Julian's Thing - but its a pain and I would like to either avoid feeding it manually or get it to eat when the others are eating.

Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to feed mine twice a day. Have had him about a year. If I don't feed him enough you can tell, he gets a little bit slimmer around the stomach area. I fed him 3 times a day for a few months straight and he was nice and plump but I stopped because nitrates we're rising. Don't think our tanks have enough critters in the sand bed to keep them full and satisfied on their own he sifts all day long.

Mine must be part dog because he eats anything I throw in the tank, lol
i don’t intentionally try to directly feed. Non stop sand sifter. On a side note I have had some in the past that are prone to jumping so covered tank is advisable

Just make sure when you feed some food gets to the bottom of the sand and they should be fine, I feed mine mysis in the morning and TDO in the afternoon and his belly is always full

I wonder if captive breeding of these gobies if it happens will lead to them much more readily accepting prepared food. I’m not really into them, but it would be good for those who like them to get specimens used to tank conditions and eating captive food from the get go (hopefully).
