Anyone think there is a correlation between sand sifting goby and elevated nitrate levels? I have a diamond goby that is a machine and my nitrate levels seem to be elevated after his introduction. I’m a stingy feeder. My sand bed is nice and clean. Trade off?

Your sand bed could have had denitrifying bacteria gassing off nitrates, now, your goby could be letting your nitrates float in your water column.

Denitrifing bacteria needs zones of low to no oxgen to survive and to gas of nitrates.

Agree,
It’s a trade off… :)
