Hello everyone, after 2 weeks of setting up my aquarium, I noticed there are some unusual orange patches on my rock. I googled it and think it’s diatom algae but I’m not sure whether to do something with it or just leave it.
Many thanks, Aga

Just searched with same issue, I'm two weeks in and have same. LFS said it was diatom algae and said the new wave maker should help (unfortunately my anemone tried to commit suicide last night in it so it is off until I can put some mesh on it. Looks like may survive but damaged). Also said some snails may help, and the algae indicative of cycling complete. Lot to know in this hobby!
