Ok guys another quick question. My tank teems to be coming to an end of the cycle. Everything is at 0. The diatom algae bloom has started. What's the typical time frame for this to go away? And should I get a clean up crew to help take care of this? If so what should I get.

If you have no stock of corals you can turn the lights out for a week or so and it will be gone. Good cleaners for me are turbo snails. Narcarius snails. Hermits crabs some have but i dont as sometimes they will kill the snails for thete shells.you can get dwarf hermits that dont grow very big thiugh. In time as you tank matures a bit more some shrimps can be good. It also depends on what type of fish you are planning.

Looks good! Quick question. When you say everything you mean ammonia and nitrite correct? And showing nitrates? Just checking... If your tank is done cycling then now is a great time for a CUC! I would start off slow with some snails (nassarius, trochus, a stream, etc)... If I could do it again I would avoid hermits, but that is 100% my personal opinion :)

How long diatoms stick around varies. If I'm not mistaken they feed off of silicates (usually found in sand), so once those are gone they'll clear up. Avoid disturbing the sand bed for now as this stirs up the silicates that have settled down there :)

how long has it been. probably time to get some snails avoid the carnivores. . yes avoid the crabs. dry rock seems to have a longer diatom prob than dry, how long is hard to say as every tank is soo different.

Ok so yest my ammonia is 0 my nitrite is 0 and my nitrate is 0. Ok so I'm going to look at my LFS to see what they have. I am also getting some diatoms in my sump. I do have chaeto down there no sand but since it is just a 5k led bulb I leave it on 24 7.

Quick question for you, maybe you would know. I have 41 pounds of live rock it's a 54 gallon tank with 20 gallon sump. Should I add more?
no. imo.
save money for a qt tank.;) and coral and fish. plus some coral will come on rocks. skimmers are better now, chems are better now, and the tank hasn't balanced yet. id see how it goes.
a small amount of bio media, marine pure in a bag in the sump will help the bio filter but... The qt will save you on algae problems later. I promise you.

I'm sorry what do you mean by qt tank? A separate tank of my refug?

yes. Quarantine. for fish and coral.
the key to battling algae is to not get it into the system. cyano diatoms those are a fact of like, hair algae is a bit of a mystery it comes from everywhere. the bad bad ones are introduced on coral and frags. kill it in qt before it goes in the tank. same is said for fish.
for coral qt a small piece of LR and a hob.
