Grainy substance. Blows off with turkey baster. Shows up after lights have been on for the day.

I feel your pain man. For me a uv sterilizer seemed to get rid of them. Though it could have just been coincidence. My tank is about 6-7 months old now and I’ve had all the uglies I can stand lol.

Is this the light at the end of the “ugly” tunnel ? After GHA, Dino, cyano and other random algea ... I sure hope so.

How do you handle the diatoms?
#reefsquad help him out bc I never actually got rid of my diatoms since my tank was set up so poorly

Time should cure it if it's diatoms, which is what it looks like to me.

I'm dealing with the diatoms now in my new 40G too, I just take a turkey baster to the rocks and substrate every afternoon.. I'll be glad when they're gone!
