Diatoms in Sump?

I just started a refugium in my new sump ~3 weeks ago. Haven't noticed any chat growth, but I noticed there is diatoms growing on the sump glass and my skimmer body. Does this mean that the diatoms are out competing my chaeto?

It is but your tanks still new. I had this problem with mine in there too but eventually I put a snail down there and things became better. Do you just keep the chato down there or do you have some live rock too?
