Diatoms or Brown Algae

Not sure what this is exactly but I saw something similar with a 10 gallon tank I set up. No coral only live rock. It did go away after I siphoned it out and did a 50% water change. Why are the lights on?

He does have 2 fish in the tank I think.

Im just not convinced this is dinos yet. I think adding some trochus snails will tell you right off the bat. If they eat it, its diatoms. If not, remove the snails lol

In the absence of a scope, that is a great idea! Don't try it with conchs though....mine at dinos like crazy and believe it or not survived.

No immediate access to a microscope sadly

Bubbles are there, the tank is in darkness. this is normal for Dino's isn't it?
