Hello everyone! I have an issue i have been battling with for a little over a month now.
Ill start from the beginning. April 4th I upgraded my 55g to a 75g. Everything went well, Instead of transferring my sand I replaced it.
It was around April 29th that I noticed a brown film on the sand. I figured it was just a small diatom bloom and let it run its course. It looked like it was getting worse so on May 6 i started a 3 day black out and went through Dr. Tim's regime. On May 9th my sand and rocks looked super clean! My water was crystal clear... not for long. It came back pretty quick.
At this point i figured I was dealing with Dino's, though i didnt think it was possible because my PO4 normally sits around .02-.06 and my NO3 around 2-3ppm.
May 26. I started the Elegance Coral's Dino regime which can be found on the Dinoflagellate Support Group on Facebook. After completing the 7 day regime my sand was clean once again. I did happen to lose a few of my corals and my yellow eye kole tang. After this regime my NO3 was at 10ppm and PO4 at .06. I thought i was in the clear at this point.
Around June 30 it was back again. My N03 looks to be close to 0 and PO4 at .03. Ive been feeding everyday to keep my nutrients up, but i have a feeling that whatever this is, its eating up my nutrients.
July 1 I dosed Chemi Clean it case it was cyano, nope.
I am by no means any expert and would love to hear any advice. I feel like anything i do is a temporary fix. No matter what i do, it comes back 2-3 weeks later. I thought about dosing NO3 but im afraid it might be putting more fuel in the fire. I am nowhere close to giving up on this, I just need to find the key to keep this tank shiny!
