Tank is a month or so old. Had a very mild diatom outbreak a week or so ago and it died. Now this. I thought it was diatoms again based on color, etc. But it looks filamentous growing up the glass. I thought diatoms would form an even layer. It also grows very, very fast. I had some people coming over for dinner so I quickly moved some gravel over it. By the time they left it was growing back.

You can take a Magic eraser sponge (original, non scented) and wipe it away. Reduce white light intensity a little also.

Not diatoms. Some type of filamentous algae probably. Considering that it's only a month old, I'd like to be the first to welcome you to the Uglies!
Thanks so much! It's good be part of the club. It's like when an old girlfried broke up with me and said, "welcome to celibacy!"
