Diatoms problems

For the past 3 months or so my tank keeps getting diatoms over and over again and the just wont go away, my tank cycled like 5 months ago so i dont think it’s because of cycling, I first started vacuuming the gravel and cleaning the glass to see if it would go away after i did that for a while but that didn’t work. Ive just been leaving it now to see if it would go away on its own but after a month it hasn’t. My tank always looks nasty now because of it, what can i do?

So it may not be diatoms. Get a cheap analogue microscope and post the pics back.

Have you been feeding your macro-Fauna critters and processors?
Whats nitrate and phosphate levels, are they consistent, week in week out?

Have you done an ICP and checked your RODI for residual silicate?

Dont the micro fauna eat poop and stuff, and all my levels are always consistent.

What’s a icp and how do I check for silicate

ICP your order kit from Amazon and then send them samples of your tank water and RODI and they do lab analysis and give you complete results of all parameters. About 45 dollars. My RODI has silicate so I have very light diatoms on my sand too.
