Diatoms with new fish?

First off I really love reading this forum. I have learned a lot and the pic of tanks are awesome. The problem I am having now is every time I have added a fish to my reef I get a diatom bloom. Is this a normal occurrence? I thought diatoms were caused by silicates not bio load.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Welcome to R2R!
It is typically associated with silicate but added bioloads can cause nutrients to elevate and cause algae breakouts. That may be the cause.

Thanks for the welcome. I checked my nitrates (2ppm)and phosphate (.002) Hannah checker when i seen diotoms i check them twice a week they have been steady for months.
