Im having an issue with brown algae im assuming is diatoms. My tanks been up since March, I use ro/di water. My parameters are good. I had no light for my tank for about 1 month, then I got an AI prime light and I noticed it get much worse. Also I store my ro/di water in cat litter tubs I've cleaned out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi diatoms is usually dusty powdery brown algae on glass an rocks. Feeds on silicates so worth checking that in your tank with a test kit . Poor light encourages algae growth so better light will improve it over time. Too much light may make it worse . If youve introduced anything else in your tank it may have triggered a small outbreak . Hope that helps :)

They'll go away once the silicate is depleted from your water. don't need to mess with your lights. make sure you're using 0 tds water. and I wouldn't use kitty little tubs.
