sooooo i just turned on my mh lights. (kids unplugged them)[emoji19] and i have another diatom bloom. tank is 3 months old i already had my original diatom boom from cycling 2 months ago. i did just upgrade my lights from no cf lights and a 20 w led strip to the aqualight pro mh pc hybrids. i did leave them on a bit longer yesterday then normal. about 12 hours. i did loose a hermit crab 2 days ago and im not sore if my new coral nanded shrimp got him or not. i did an ammonia test and its at 0. i am do for a water change but am waiting for my spectrapure rodi to show up. any ideas on what to do? or just ride it out? thanks everyone!

Ride it out. You can also use a. It if gfo to pull out the silicates.

Tank is really young still. Expect a lot of different algae phases. Just keep testing and let it take its course

will do, already had a little cyano on my glass sucked it up and havent seen it since. just sucks because my coraline finally started taking off when i got my new lights, and now its got brown on it. grrrr!

You can use a bag with the gfo like some do carbon. The just put it in a high flow area like on the return pump.
If you have corals in there just use care you don't strip the water too quick of po4

You will get there with time. Just don't go crazy trying to fight a small diatom or algae outbreak. Good tank husbandry and keeping everything consistent will take you a long way.
