I was wondering if I'm using dry live rock will it appears in my tank or does that happens on live rock??

Diatoms are a result of silicate in the water. It is a common occurrence when a tank cycles through the early stages and will be more or less depending on the silica content of your water and rock. If you re asking if you will get some, you will, as it is a natural process. Diatoms are the least concern of all the others like dinos, cyano and hair algae. Diatoms are easy to identify and self limiting. Basically just let it grow, use RO/DI water to limit its primary silica nutrient and it will disappear after a few weeks or so. Dry rock or live rock, you will experience diatoms.
