Did ecotech/ai raise prices again?

Sheeeeeeesh the next tank I build I am seriously considering those Nicrew lights on amazon. It almost to the point you have to take a loan out to build a reef tank.
I would try Noopsyche when they are on sale. There is also a rumor of a Ecotech knock off out there.

The Noops are 200+ as well plus a mount if you need to buy one. Don't get me wrong they are nice and one of the cheaper options but comparable Nicrew is 150. Just intrigues me at that price point.

Some people say inflation is a good thing! Also gas has been going up before the war.

The more you pay, the more we raise
That’s capitalism.
it used to be an even-ish playing field…
then bigboxes took over small businesses.

now, big conglomerates takeover big boxes.

you the consumer were already paying too much, add in a war
and the residual effects of a pandemic
and this is what we get.

I just buy used.

My sunpower was $200 and my prime was $150 with mount. You have to check the classifieds and Facebook often and jump on deals. Just make sure the person also took good care of the item as well.

I can't even get any interest for my basically brand new premium items. It's crazy.

I think part of the issue is the new classified setup here. It is so bad now

I hear it sucks for sellers but buying doesn’t seem much different. I can look by category now.

Maybe people want old janky items to save a buck! Lol I know I see primes listed from 150-210 (with mount). Prices all over the place.

When they put on their sales..you get them for 145. They go on sale a lot.

You're right about having to jump on the used market deals. No longer can you take a few days to think about it. If you wait it will most likely be gone.

I would clarify that the pandemic didn't increase the prices but rather the response to the pandemic.
Your right - But if it happens again guess what - PPL still going to go full panic mode and will lead to more ICU issues and same issues

Curious how much large tanks are going for today? 400+ gallons
That's going to depend on lots of different factors. As far as I know, the biggest off-the-shelf tank you can get is a 240. I think Marineland quit making the Deep Dimension 300. So that would be a custom build. The cheapest Glass Cages tank in the 400 gallon range would be about 4 grand.

A better barometer for aquarium prices would be tanks in the 75 gallon range. More common and mass produced.

AI, Ecotech, Bulk Reef Supply, Marine Depot and maybe something I'm forgetting are part of Bertram Capital.

Just to clarify Marine Depot was just bought by them and closed for the sake of eliminating competition in the industry and no longer really exists.

I will say as a buyer I almost never even look at them anymore since the changes I find the "new and improved" system to suck lol

Yes. Same as Petco buying Drs Foster & Smith.

I was about to upgrade to a pair of XR15 G5 Pro's. With the $30 price increase I said screw that and going with the Reef Breeders Photon V2+ 48 and adding in the Reef Nexus board instead. Buying the light and board separately saves almost $70 over the Pro model, and is about $400 less than the G5's.

Boils down to the consumer having an illusion of choice.

I would clarify that the pandemic didn't increase the prices but rather the response to the pandemic.

The addition thousands dying a die a day, mass amounts getting very sick daily, and plenty in the hospital, will cause a disruption in supply chains. That's what an extremely contagious disease does alright.
