I have a 150 G tank and i had a yellow tang with his budy a Foxface both quite happy, with the rest of 6 chromis and a blenny. Posting on the net and asking i was told that i could add to it and even another tang would be ok, if i add it with other fish as well so i did. a flasher wrass and a six line wrass, and i took a convic tang with me . My Yellow blew is top, Now since i've seen tanks with multiple tangs in it , i assume that's a ajustment phase, or am i wrong with this. How do the people with 4-5 or 6 tangs do it in a 90 gallons like i've seen on You Tube, put valium in the water because i'm about to reach for the bottle myself lol its not pretty. Wow , he's usually so pleasant now he's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Right from the Liveaquaria website on Convict Tangs:

It should not be included in a tank with other species of Tangs, since they will harass it.

You could try putting a mirror up against the tank to see if the Yellow will now focus on the Yellow image....but I think you will still have a problem.

Yellow tangs can be aggressive and should be one of the last tangs added. If he has been in the tank for a while he will be dominant. Some say if you rearrange aqua scape that will help.

Well tonight some friends came over we've put a mirror in it calm things down and the convic seems to face the yellow tang more. They think he'll be ok in a few days. In any case if too much stress is going on one of the guys want him so i'm good with it i'll keep the other two wrasses and he'll be in a 180 g

The mirror might help, you'll need it to for a few days. The yellow is going to show it who is boss for a while, if of does not start to subside over time you will either need to temporarily remove the yellow or remove the convict.

End of day two ; well things have calm down considerably . I came back this afternoon and everybody is swimming , Mulder Fox, my Foxface, i named him after you know who, is even comming out and swimming with "Zee" my convic, and Mellow yellow , the upset Tang got is name finally, is still wary but not aggressive anymore , he meet him but just turns away, they both do . And the other fish who hid while the aggression was going on came out now; so things are settling, it seems. I'm giving myself a week before giving him away to another friend who would take him in his tank. Took that to name my main characters lol. In any case my fish load is full. I'm done its enough for this tank. My corals as well . I'm almost done too, after that let it grow.

Great news sounds like it is going to be okay.

The trick with tangs is to always add one that is bigger than the established tangs. The new one won't be aggressive because it has no territory, and the established tangs will be intimidated by the larger sized new tang.
