I sold an item and the guy who PayPal me when I opened my PayPal it said transaction denied. Anyone have experience or am I doing something wrong?

Why is this tagged Emergency? There is Literally nothing anyone here can do or say to fix the issue.

If you gave the item to the person before confirming that you received the funds, I'm sorry but this was partially your fault. You would count the cash before handing over the keys, e transfers are no different.

AsAs long as you didn't accept friends and family for payment, which would be another mistake, you can file with PayPal. They can't get your money or item back but still knock the other person's ratings.
either way, it'll take a few days or weeks.

I can’t label it emergency? Sorry didn’t know that rule but thank you for the input

Sounds like an emergency

I am sorry. Same thing happened to my buddy who sold a Rolex. It scammed him out of a couple grand. This is an emergency for sure. Wish I could help.

I'm sorry I didn't intend to sound like a jerk but for sure did. I can't edit it so I'll try again.

That sucks man. Hope it works out for you.
No worries it worked out thank you. Let me know what I can post as an emergency next time so I know what doesn’t offend you

I have had this happen. First thing is to try to understand from PayPal why the transaction was denied. Second, where is the item you sent? If you sent it via UPS or FEDEX, as the sender, you can have the package rerouted back to you. If you sent it USPS, or it's arrived already, then SOL. I do think it is generally wise to make sure you have verified payment before shipping out the item(s).

I used to buy and sell stereo equipment and had every scam under sun tried on me. Twice I had to have packages rerouted back to me. Proud of the fact that I failed to fall for most of the scams, though some were actually quite comical. My personal favorite was the 'we sent you a check for $2,000 instead of $200, could you send us a refund check of $1,800 along with the amplifier'. How stupid do they think I am LOL.

I think some people are missing the point about "Emergency" here, choosing to debate whether this actually an emergency or not.

For the purposes of this site, I've always seen "Emergency" defined as a crisis involving the tank, livestock, or corals. So the point isn't whether getting scammed is an emergency - it certainly can be time-sensitive, but it's more of an emergency with PayPal than it is for a saltwater fish/coral forum. But hopefully nobody's getting offended - it should just be an issue of politely clarifying the rules and expectations of R2R.

Maybe we could have an urgent urgent emergency urgent urgent urgent..... Button. But seriously this is why I always as my wife first before I do or sell anything. You need a fall guy

I think this was PayPal’s fault, the buyer tried hard and sent me the money! Thank you everyone!!

I wasn’t trying to but thank you for the apology, everything got resolved. PayPal was showing something else on his end, so it’s weird. Never had this trouble with PayPal before
