Did I just kill my tank?

You just dumped a bunch of fish poo back in the tank. Your coral will be happy a little more food.

If you are still stressed a water change is not a bad idea.

Some people feed there tanks skim mate to increase nutrients
Holy god I am literally pooing myself here. Ok ima WFH tomorrow run water all night and do a change. Thanks for the quick replies!

So I put a new filter sock in , I did Rinse it, but the skimmer went nuts and put a load of skim back in the tank. Did I just kill my tank ?
If it's a new filter sock that's never been used, it doesn't matter how much you rinse it since some filter socks has a coating on it that makes the skimmer go crazy. It will settle down however and not harmful to the tank.

As for the skimmate going crazy and spilling back into the tank. Not a big deal unless your water is absolutely filthy.

Worth putting my emergency seachem nitrate remover in?
This is the emergency forum. What is this doing here?

Lol kidding of course

You are not the first, nor the last, to overflow a skimmer cup. You've gotten some great advice. Don't panic, see where you are and go from there

Happens to me all the time, never did anything bad , most of our tanks could work without a skimmer

Man I really panicked. I was so upset. The only thing I could think of was all the time and effort I had put in and i just killed it!

Just check the skimmer every ten minutes and dump the skimmate in a bucket. After an hour it should settle down, then dump it every hour till you go to bed.
