I was looking at my tank this evening noticed one of my trochus snails seem to be on his side but was not on the glass and there was a hermit crab on it and his shell is not totally sealed up.

Yeah I'd have to say definatly. If it hasn't moved and hermits are coming after it...trochus snails are self righting, so they don't need turned over...sorry to say it's more than likely a goner.

That looks to be a Mexican turbo and it's just retracted into its shell. Keep an eye on it and if it doesn't open up and move around in a day or two, it's likely dead.

That is a turbo that needs to be flipped over.

I left a trochus outside on my driveway overnight one time and when I found it the next day, I placed it back in the tank and it was good to go.

I flip a snail anytime i see one on its back. Usually theyll be moving pretty quickly if still alive. Does look like a turbo.

flip it over now. Maybe the hermit wants the shell so has it on it's back. second it comes out to turn over the hermit will attack ! consider turning it over & separate them as far as possible.

First off I did not know that it was a turbo because I specifically asked for trochus but the snail is already dead.

Trochus snails and large Mexican turbo snails aren't too different in price, so you didn't get taken. Trochus snails tend to have vertical banding on their shells.
