Did I kill my Dragon Soul Goniastrea

I was removing it from the frag plug it was on to put it on a different rock, it was not encrusted on the frag plug but whatever adhesive the people I got it from used was a little stronger than I expected and it tore. Did I kill my Dragon Soul? Lesson learned about removing corals from frags but I feel terrible, I could care less about how much it cost I just don't want to intentionally kill anything

It should be fine, keep an eye our for any exposed skeletal parts

Moving forward, I find it best to just cut the stem from a frag plug and glue the disk to rockwork than trying to remove the frags themselves

yeah, I am definitely going to do that instead now. Hopefully, it will make a full recovery.

The fact that it is still fleshed up is a good sign, make sure there is no glue on the face / mouth, fingers crossed.
Don't beat yourself up as we have all accidentally damaged corals.

@Thunderrap Im sorry this happened! We as hobbiest deal with theses issues, and while not pleasant they are learning experiences.

Some of the best advice I heard in dealing with this came from a MACNA talk between Sanja and Richard Ross. They were talking about how many corals they have killed over the years...that is is ok to kill a coral as long as you never do it the same way twice. So things will happen, try to not be too hard on yourself, learn from then experience, move on AND don’t repeat it

@najer There is not any glue near the face/mouth, should I repair the tare with a little glue or leave it be?

I think you will be good. The mouth is still intact. Try feeding some Reef Roids or small mysis in a couple of days. Keep an eye out for feeder tentacles. Showing these will be a good sign the coral is in okay health.

I would just leave it.

This is a 4 x 3" piece, I got it about 6 months ago as a rescue, it got cuddled overnight at my lfs by a pink long tentacle tube nem.
It lost about 60% of ridge flesh but all faces were intact so it got an Iodine dip and went in.
The fluff at the back is on about a 1" section still healing and I am getting baby heads, tough little suckers!
