Hey guys! So I have a 150g reef tank, and so far I only have beginner corals like leathers and zoas, and my tank is getting to be theee years old now and I wanted to add a frogspawn to my tank. I ordered one online and I recurved it today, but I honestly don’t know how these corals look when they’re closed or how I can tell if it’s s healthy specimen just by looking at it, I acclimated it and put it at the bottom of my tank, can you guys help me!?

It will need to settle in and adjust to your tank, the lights, etc. Looking at it, it looks retracted and that is normal for a new addition. Give it a few days and make sure no jelly looking stuff is forming on the head, it is dropping tentacles, stuff like that.

Oh ok, I’ve been researching on these and it just worried me because the skeleton was showing. I got it along with some zoas and those are opening up fine.

I see that little portion of exposed skeleton.
If the tissue along the rim doesnt look even all around the coral and completely retracts into the portion where the skeleton its most likely not going to do well.

yeah that’s what worries me, I already emailed the store to let them know the price they sent me didn’t look too good

Doesn’t look good for that piece but you never know, all you can do is give it time.. is it in your 3 year old reef? From that picture it appears to be in a new tank.

Agree with above, not seeing flesh around the sides is not a good sign. Do you have a pic of it opening during the day?

Mine have always opened up fully by the next day. If it doesn't do that by tomorrow I'm afraid it probably didn't make it in the shipping and seller should take care of it.
