Did my blue leg pick a shell too big?

This blue leg hermit decided to pick a shell I was rubber banding seaweed to, is it too big for it? Should I be worried or just let him be.

Let him be. If he can't manage it, he'll choose something else

He should be fine. My hermits do this occasionally and if it’s too big, they’ll often go back to wherever they left their old shell and move back in. My Halloween hermit just did this yesterday, in fact.
