Did my clove polyps die?

I bought a sad looking frag of clove polyps a couple days ago. Yesterday they opened for a bit but they've been closed all day and now look like they're melting.

Lightly turkey baste it. If it falls apart thrm yes but it isn't looking good

Not sure what your parameters are or how you acclimated them but I bought a few corals online a few months ago and my clove polyps were the most stubborn to open

Why would you ever buy a sad looking frag of anything? Everything you put in your tank can impact the long term health of your system. Buy coral from a trusted source (like my tank) or somewhere you can inspect it in person.

As for these guys, like someone else said, I’d blow off the film it looks like they’re covered with and put them in a place with medium light and low flow and see how they do. They can be pretty resilient.

I just mean sad in that they were very small and not extremely colorful. They were open and otherwise healthy looking.

I’ve had them before. They’re pretty bulletproof. Mine would open for a while then close for a couple of days. They took over my tank so I would be careful about putting them on a big piece of rock (think GSP).
