Did something just hatch in my tank?

So this thing just magically appeared in my tank out of nowhere. Don't know how it got there or where it came from. At first I thought it might be a sponge. It used to be closed but today it opened up. I don't see any new fish swimming around anywhere. Or is it some type of clam?
