I've had a pink and white Coco worm for two months and it was doing great. However, I had a really bad algae outbreak, which I thought might be related to the liquid phytoplankton I was feeding it. So I added Vibrant for Reef Aquariums and within days, my Coco worm began exhibiting distress and today it has not come out of its tube. I think it is dead. Has this happened to anyone else? The Vibrant did not list that it was unsafe for worms. How do I know if my Coco worm is dead? What should I do?

Not experienced with cocoa worms, but could the problem be caused by nitrate increase caused by algae dieoff? Just throwing out an idea.

Coco worms are hard to keep, considered expert level. I've kept one for six months in an established reef, but no longer.

I did not see any algae die off. I have more algae now than before I put Vibrant in my tank.

I've read from many different sites that they are easy to hard to keep. I thought the problem was that previously, there was no food on the market for them and they slowly starved to death. But the food I was giving it was specifically for them phyto-feast (I had to keep it refrigerated). Did yours die suddenly? Mine was thriving and died within days of dosing with Vibrant.
