Didfference between HOB skimmer and Sump Skimmer

Finally, I decide to replace my skimmer. I am thinking to buy a new HOB skimmer for my current tank, but I also hope this one can be used for my future sump. Is this possible for both?

I guess sump skimmer is much powerful than HOB, given the same condition. Am I right?

Yes, the sump skimmers are normally more efficient. They allow for a taller reaction chamber. The longer the bubbles have to travel (the amount of time the bubbles are in contact with water) means the more proteins that are being carried up into the collection cup.

The design weighs heavily in the favor of the insump skimmers. They just can't get the HOB to do what a conical or the others can do. Now the HOB Reef Octopus and the Aquamaxx are something to be dealt with, they are no slouch when it comes to HOB, they even utilize bubble plates for contact time.
