Good news, the new house is great! Bad news.. I had a somewhat disastrous tank move. I had to store my rock/corals/fish at a relatives house. I lost all my fish and my rock/coral were stored in closed buckets at room temp for 5 days (this was not the plan). I opened one and it smelled like death. My only corals were a few softies/LPS. They're not looking too good but its hard to tell.

I'm currently setting up my tank in the new house. My heads kinda spinning right now but I want to know the best approach before I make any rash decisions. I'm mixing the new saltwater in my tank currently, hooking up lights, etc. I'm about to add my new sandbed since I was planning to replace the sandbed regardless.

A few questions:
1) Should I just rise the rocks and drop them in the new tank and hope they don't smell up my whole house?
2) Should I just toss everything and start fresh?
3) Do I just need to treat the rocks as dead at this point and put them in some kind of closed container for weeks?

Any help is appreciated!

Should I just put them outside to cook/die off? Is putting them in a separate container with heated saltwater is any different than just adding them to the tank at this point?
Im not too sure but i youd have to wait a while and if u didn do it in the tank youd have to do alot more water changes to clean the filer and stuff

Congrats on the new house! Sorry the tank move didn’t work out. I would try to scrape/rinse off as much dead as I could and then cycle the rock in a separate container; it’s probably going to smell pretty bad.
