I have not been able to get my new two-barred rabbitfish to eat any seaweed or veggies yet. He eats flakes like crazy. Will this be a long term problem for him? There is a pic of him and a few random weekend pics. Thanks.

OK, anyone know if the lack of veggie matter will eventually weaken the fishes immune system or any tricks for getting him to eat some veggies, I'm afraid if I starve him he will start eating coral. The other pics are just to show off some growth.

Are you trying dried Nori? Try the red stuff...much healthier!! I agree with soaking in Garlic. This tends to trigger their appetite.

Omega 1 Kelp Flakes are a good choice. They love caulerpa. My LFS store gets them a lot of times to help clear his tank out.

Thanks guys, I might try the kelp flakes, I think he would eat off the top, I just can't seem to get him to take to the veggie clip too much, and I want him to be healthy since he is my centerpiece fish.

Are you leaving the clip in the tank 24x7?

It might just need to get use to seeing the clip, etc.

i agree leave the clip in all the time and soak the veggies in garlic he wont be able to resist!

use a rubber band and attach it to a small piece of live rock. cut slits in the seaweed it looks more natural to them. that always worked for me.

The clip has been in there much longer than he has. I guess it's just an adjustment period for him, I wish he would eat some of the multitude of hair algae that I have in the tank. I will keep trying to get him to eat his veggies.

I have read that as long as he is well fed he sould leave them alone. I hope this is true and will keep a close eye on him. At least when he gets scared he tries to stay still and blend into the rock. This will hopefully make him easier to catch if he goes ta Zoa munchin.

You may just want to consider kelp flakes, or possibly formula 2 flakes. These should provide an adequate vegetable source for him, if you are worried about that. (probably should have told you that at the store) You may also wanna try different types of nori, maybe he would like red/brown/purple better
