I'm debating between a glass and acrylic lid for my 40b reef. I plan to keep LPS, softies, maybe a BTA, and zoas. I was just wondering what people's experiences were with varying types of lids as far as light reflection, ease of cleaning, bowing, etc.

Thanks!

Glass is going to be more forgiving, and easier to clean. But, in the long run, you can always remove the Acrylic lids and polish them up once they've become to nasty.
But why are you going with lids and not using an eggcrate instead?

since I don't have an RODI unit I was looking to stem the amount of evaporation. Replacing ~1gal of water a day is just an expense I'd like to avoid if possible. If it is in the best interest of my livestock I don't mind going to a screen or egg crate, but I'd prefer to avoid it.

Lids tend to slow down the gas exchange at the water surface.
