difference between lyretails??? fiji / indian ocean?

hello,

is there any difference (other then appearance) in hardiness or the way the act between the fiji and indian ocean lyretails?

i just thought it's kind of weird that i have only ever seen indian ocean lt's at any lfs, but can order the fiji's online. i was wondering if there is a reason the lfs don't carry the fiji's???

Fijian ones end up being a little more expensive, but are my favorite variant of the species. They are just as hardy.

I've got a lone male Indian Ocean lyretail. If I added two female Fijian lyretails does anyone see possible problems? Would they see each other as the same species and the females stay female or would one of the fijians change to male. If one did change to male would the Indian Ocean male battle with the Fijian male?

They will view each other as the same species, but that not stop the dominant female from transitioning. If she does, transition, she/he will fight with the established male.

Darn, not what I wanted to hear. So even though they see each other as the same species the dominant female would still change or might change?

She may or may not. Lyretails are pretty feisty, so often transition regardless of a male present.
