Difference In Colors?

Whats the difference in a White T5HO 10000k color and 6500k? Im about to place a order for 2 Royal Blue 460nm T5HO's and im not sure what color white to order. I would love it to have a blue tint instead of a yellow white color.

The higher up the Kelvin rating you go the bluer the light gets. So, your 6500k is basically the sun at high noon, thats a bit yellowish. Go with 10k if those are the choices.

+1 on 10K bluer than the 6500k. Look up a color chart that shows a match for the Kelvin ratings.

How many bulbs are you running? what kind of fixture?

There are tons of color combos you can go with. most actinic bulbs only act as supplements, not truly putting off any PAR which is what you need gor coral growth. there are blue bulbs out there that do have a high PAR, like ATI Blue Plus, and Geissman Actinic Plus.

I have a 4 lamp T5HO fixture. Thinking about going with 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Coral Plus and 1 ATI Aquablue special. How does that combo sound?

That would work well. But you could get away with not using the aquablue special, and just adding another blue plus. It will be more on the blue side 20K, but the coral plus bulbs put off more white than you would think. And with the aquablue special you might get a washed out look. too white IMO.

I ended up ordering 3 Blue Plus, 2 Coral Plus and 1 Aquablue. Gonna try 2 BP, 1 CP and 1 Aqua and see what its like, then try 3 BP and 1 CP. Ill post pics.
