I have a somewhat established reef tank, 3-4 months in. It's a 12 gallon bookshelf style. Super easy to maintain, I just do a weekly water change and everything is great. Just a fire shrimp and clean up crew and some LPS, still very new to the hobby. I am now planning on getting a Waterbox 34 gallon Marine AIO. Can someone give me a breakdown of their maintenance schedule on a similar tank? I'm still very new to the whole sump system idea, although I try to research every day. At what size tank should you start making your own water vs buying new water? Any other issues like a big power bill spike, etc? Thanks!

I used to buy rodi water at 40 cents a gallon until I got my own so it's really up to you if you want to switch to using your own water source or not.

As for maintenance there is no good answer for that. The weekly water change is kinda the standard but when you do a water change depends on a ton of factors like how heavily stocked your tank is, the type of fish, how heavy you feed, if you have macroalgae, etc. You kinda get a feel for it by doing testing. But if you have the average tank with clown fish and maybe 2 other fish then I would say a water change every week is fine.
