I am setting up a second system with multiple 10 gallon tanks plumbed into one large sump. (Clownfish breeding pipe dream). I am very tempted on this new unit but have heard horror stories about reliability of the older DC models. Red Dragon and Reef Octopus DC pumps are a bit spendy, so I was wondering as anyone pulled the trigger on one of these and have any feedback? The thought of having power outage complete flow and circulation from a 12V source is a huge plus, not to mention the lower operating cost.

.........
•High performance motor with innovative electronics resulting in power savings up to 65%
.......

Here's what I don't understand....they make the above claim of 65% enerygy savings with DCT pumps. The DC pumps made the same claim, but for 50% savings,

"High performance motor with innovation electronics and energy saving up to 50%"

But when you compare the two pumps side by side, if anything, the new DCT's use more energy.

Watts of DC versus DCT Pumps
.................DC...........DCT
6000.........40.............42
8000..........-...............65
9000.........74...............-
12000.......84.............85
