I'm new to the hobby and after seeing the anemones on this site, I've decided to do an all anemone tank. My question is: is it safe to mix types of anemones or if I get a GBTA, do I have to stick with all BTAs forever? Because the sebae ones are really cool too! I heard from someone that they can do some kind of chemical warfare on each other is they're a different species?

Thanks,
Kate

I, personally, have had issues mixing different species of anemones --- Mainly S. haddoni with M. doreensis -- the haddoni never stayed put until the LTA was removed. Same when I tried S. haddoni with an E. quadricolor. Others have had no issues, this is just what I have experienced.

I had seveal combination without problems as long as different species don't touch each other. I don't run carbon either. Other people seem to have problem. The following combination I keep long term, at least 6 months, without observable problem. All the anemones involved seem happy, healthy and growing for me:
Gigantea and Haddoni
Gigantea, Malu, BTA and Maxi mini Carpets
Gigantea, Gigantea
Magnifica, magnifica
Magnifica, Malu, BTA
Haddoni, malu
Malu, Malu

The following combination I was not able to keep together but not able to conclude exactly why
Magnifica Haddoni

I currently have a sebae (h. crispa) and RBTA together in my 55 tank. They were both a good size when I added them together. I had tried a smaller RBTA and that experience was unsuccessful.

I currently have Magnifica, rbta, gbta, lta in a 90 gallon. I think a upgrade will be needed later on.

I had a carpet with my h.crispa and things did not go well. The sebae is in my quarantine and will most likely not make it. Was doing great until the carpet was added. I should of removed him earlier, the carpet is doing wonderful.

I have a Sebae and an RBTA in a 29 Biocube. They were both doing fine till I recently moved moved them both. I can move my sebae easy ive done it 3 times already but my RBTA took all day and not it doesn't look to hot.

This was months ago right before I moved the Sebae. I moved the RBTA recently.
